The Co-Chairs of the High-Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism (HLAB), Stefan Löfven and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, held meetings with both the Secretary-General and the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations this week to report on the Board’s progress, along with high-level meetings with senior government officials.

Coinciding with the 77th United Nations General Assembly, the meetings provided an opportunity to discuss the ideas that emerged during HLAB consultations, expert roundtables, and from the research papers it commissioned – offering valuable insights that will help to inform the Board’s recommendations for strengthening multilateralism and global governance.

The final report of HLAB will be submitted to the Secretary-General to allow for sufficient time for Member States to discuss its recommendations ahead of the Summit of the Future. The Summit aims to forge a new global consensus on how to better address peace and security and manage future shocks and crises.
