Peace as a Global Public Good

Author: Bjørn Møller
Source: Aalborg Universitet
Year: 2004

The questions of whether peace and/or stability can be labelled public goods, and what the implications may be of so doing, form the theme of this article. The author does not elaborate on the general theory of public goods, but merely point to a few terminological problems. There are thus numerous ways of preventing, managing and resolving violent conflicts, all with a view to reducing the public evil represented by war and thereby promoting peace as a public good.
